Make Pizza at Home this Weekend 

Instead of getting pizza delivery this weekend, or buying one from the supermarket, make one from scratch! It’s fun to do, and, if you use a bread maker, can be made in no time! You can involve even the youngest members of the family (okay, not too young) and the results taste all that bit better because you made the pizza yourself!  making pizza at home with the kids is fun and easier than you think! 
 For the dough you’ll need to dust off the bread maker or be prepared to do some kneading, proving, and kneading.

I use a breadmaker, and I think it is the best use of the machine!

This will make three 12″ pizza bases, or two big ones and a few small bases!

  • 1.5 cups water at room temp
  • 2.5 tbsp olive oil
  • 4.5 cups strong bread flour – I use seed and whole grain, but you can use white
  • 2.5 tbsp sugar
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 2.25 tsp dried yeast

Roll into circles on a floured surface and pinch the edges up to form a rim. Place the bases on a greased baking tray, or use baking paper. Cook the bases for 10 minutes (200’C) then remove and add toppings of your choice. At this stage my boys help me put the toppings on, and they can choose what they’d like on their pizza. 

Cook again for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the toppings hot.

  This is such a yummy pizza. We put mozzarella, smoked garlic and roast chicken on, or grilled aubergine and sundried tomatoes with cheddar… So many options!

    I love homemade pizzas! I tend to have the same combo everytime – ham and pineapple…mmmmm!! xx
