James went back to school today. “But James is only three!”, I hear you cry. Yes, indeed, and only just three years old, but nevertheless he’s been going to “school” for a while. His preschool is terrific, the teachers are really friendly, and he’s really enjoyed being there for the past year.
At the end of last term he had a bit of a wobble and started to cry when I dropped him off, but that little blip was no doubt due to our having holidays and he got out of the habit of going. James actually didn’t cry when I dropped him off on his last day of term – typical!
This morning when I dropped him off, he ran inside, shrugged his coat off, and went straight over to play with toys. He’d assured me in the car on the way there that he’d cry when I said goodbye. Huh! Not one little tear went anywhere near his eyes! I was forgotten the instant he saw the toys.
He wears a uniform at preschool, something that is optional, but I’m pleased about because he doesn’t come home very clean very often! Actually today he came home with green paint in his ear and I do not know what over his jeans.
Here’s a picture of his polo shirt before he went to school:
You will spot a few stains already on there, because although it’s the first day of term, I was very lazy (or hopeful?) and didn’t buy him new uniform for this term yet. We were sent a few Vanish products to test, and I thought what better to try them on but a piece of clothing that’s very regularly put through its paces.
He was absolutely shattered after school, so he got a bit of time to play with his new Duplo, then tea, and while he was in the bath I used the Vanish Power-Gel squeeze stick on the worst of the mess. Half of parenting is avoiding clothes stains! The other half? I’m not sure – maybe giving them the opportunity to have fun enough to dirty the clothes?!
I usually use the 30-degree quick wash on our clothes, and I thought to give the Vanish a ‘fair’ test, I should do as I normally do. Noah kept an eye on the clothes in the machine. He does a funny little bounce while the spin cycle starts, which I tried to video but failed.
Here’s a photo of his tshirt after the wash. Lovely.
What’s the biggest mess you’ve ever had to clean up?
