Bedtime Stories – week 23 (2015)

We visited the library this week, as we often do, to collect some more books for our bedtime reading. The children’s section of library has a lot of little stools, chairs, and a cosy corner to sit and read books. Every time we visit there are other children, and recently it doesn’t matter if James has met them before or not, they all eventually do the same thing; after some playing together on the ground, they climb on the cosy corner and peep over the wall.

On the way in to the library today, I told James the usual boundaries and guidelines and added “if you do any climbing in the library, we have to go home straight away”. Okay.

So, we started off with James pottering about collecting books for me to read, and then some children arrived so he went to listen to a story their mammy was reading out loud.

I read Elmer with Noah.

He really liked the colours, I think. James did not like that I was reading to Noah, even though he was being read to. So he dashed over to snatch the book.

I persuaded him to let Noah hear the end of the story, and James went off to play again.

The next thing I knew, he had balanced a chair on top of the cosy corner and was peeping over the wall.

Time to go straight home.

That doesn’t mean we’ve not had bedtime stories this week; we have, but I’m afraid I’ve written about them all before!

Good for you sticking to your boundaries! We live a trip to the library but now the kids are at school we don’t get much chance

It’s hard sometimes sticking to limits, especially when I want to do something!
They have started to do a Saturday cinema at one near us. Maybe you’ve got a chance to do something like that too?

I miss our library trips-we don’t go nearly as often as we did when my children were younger. I really ought to get more organised and ensure we go more often!

Such a great idea, I’ve never thought of taking little A to the library. He loves books and when we read to him but he gets bored of the same old books, no idea why I haven’t thought of it before! Thanks! #weekendbookclub
