Bedtime Stories (week 30 – 2015)

I am a massive fan of screen-free time before bedtime. We do puzzles or some other quiet activities before beginning the night time routine of teeth, story, sleep. It makes for a much easier bed time!

This week we’ve been playing with the Aquadoodle or using this Stringalong book.

This Stringalong is Plants and Animals, and is lots of fun as well as being a great discussion-starter.

You match the top picture with the bottom using the string. Above, we had to string the top of plants to the bottom, and then you check you’ve got it right by turning the card over to see the lines drawn on.

I love the variety of pictures to match. On some cards you match the creature to its shadow, others the birds with the beaks, trees to leaves, and on others you match it to the eggs.

James told me gleefully today, as we went round the supermarket, that frogs eggs come out of their bum! I found this quite funny not least because, if you look at these pictures, it’s the turtle who is laying eggs!

At the moment James needs me to help him with this book, but I know it will grow into a quiet activity he’ll enjoy for a long time yet.
